Dr. Neil F. Gordon, Founder & Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Neil Gordon brings over 30 years’ experience as a medical, business and healthcare leader. He was director of exercise physiology at the world-renowned Cooper Institute in Dallas, TX, where he worked with elite athletes including tennis champion, Jimmy Connors, and Olympic marathon gold-medalist, Frank Shorter. Over the years, he has also held positions as:
- Clinical Professor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine
- Chief Medical and Science Officer, Nationwide Better Health
- Chairman, American Heart Association Committee on Exercise, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention
Dr. Gordon completed MD and PhD (exercise physiology) degrees in Johannesburg, South Africa. He arrived in USA in 1987. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and has published over 100 scientific manuscripts and 8 books on the topic of preventive medicine.
Dr. Saul Quint, CEO
Dr. Saul Quint leads INTERVENT Canada, building on his 30 years of clinical, business and management experience, including positions as:
- CEO of CareClinix, a provider of online patient and management tools
- Co-founder of Canadian Legal Copies, a facilities management company
- Introducer of Cold-Eeze to the Canadian market
- Founder of DocWalks, a manufacturer and retailer of prefabricated orthotic soles
Dr. Quint has been practicing medicine in Toronto and Bolton since 1981. He holds an MD degree from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
Mel Barsky, President & COO
Over his 25-year career in financial services, venture capital, healthcare and technology, Mel Barsky has worked with global Fortune 100 organizations and start up private equity ventures, including:
- Co-founder of INTERVENT Canada
- Director, Connected Health at Dynacare Medical Laboratories
- President of iSequent, launched a global financial services software platform
- Co-founder and partner of Scotiabank Private Equity Investments, overseeing investment and governance initiatives in private and public companies, primarily in the financial services and IT sectors
- Director of Business Development and Strategy at American Express
- Equity trading at the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Mel holds an MBA from Queen’s University and Economics & Political Science degree from the University of Toronto.
Mel has provided governance and consulting solutions as a corporate Board Director to a number of organizations.
Dr. Richard Salmon, B.D.S., M.B.A., Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Salmon is an INTERVENT co-founder. He brings to our company his significant experience in dentistry, healthcare and business management. He obtained in BDS from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, where he received the Jan Breyer award in Pharmacology. He also completed an MBA from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom where he received the Remedy Award for entrepreneurship and the KPMG award for his dissertation on customer satisfaction and its relationship to loyalty in healthcare.
He is a registered dentist in the UK, a member of the General Dental Council, and from 1993 to 1997 he worked held several positions in the UK National Health Service.
As a co-founder of INTERVENT USA, Dr. Salmon oversaw the company’s technology development. He successfully grew the company until its acquisition by Nationwide Better Health, a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest mutual insurance and financial services companies. He served as the company’s Vice-President and successfully implemented the systems in USA, Canada, South Africa and globally.
G. Chipstead “Chip” Faircloth, Executive Vice President
Chip Faircloth is an INTERVENT co-founder. His 35 years in healthcare administration includes CEO positions with programs focused on preventing cardiovascular disease and cancer. His INTERVENT portfolio includes working with large complex organizations – developing, implementing and managing strategic relationships – then sustaining long-term support and guidance for their needs. In a typical INTERVENT account relationship, Chip will be involved right from the first meeting – ensuring seamless and continuous client service.
Chip holds a business degree from the University of Georgia, along with Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Administration degrees from Georgia State University.
Dr. Brenda Shepherd Wright, PhD, Vice President
As one of INTERVENT’s co-founders, Dr. Wright brings more than 30 years experience in health promotion and disease prevention, working with client populations in North America and globally, including over 200 corporate organizations.
She has authored numerous scientific papers, along with newsletters, books and other technical works. These academic works have turned into understandable, patient-centered content, as Dr. Wright has been the principal author of INTERVENT’s educational and training materials.
Working with large organizations, she has successfully developed customized on-site health promotion programs – including fatigue management training, interactive seminars and challenges/ competitions – and has assisted in developing customized evaluation reports.
She holds PhD and M.Ed degrees form the University of North Texas at Denton, and a BSc from University of Texas at Austin.
Kevin Reid, M.A., Director of Information Technology
Kevin brings over 30 year experience as a senior IT manager, data analyst and systems designer, including serving as group IT manager for British corporations and developing commercial software for large organizations.
He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cambridge University, UK. His areas of specialization include natural sciences, mathematics and computer sciences.
He was a leader in the development of INTERVENT’s technology platform, and instrumental in implementing the firm’s SQL database in 2001 – a solution that is still useful today.
